Chaska is located in the breathtaking Minnesota River valley in the south western Twin Cities area.  The city has been built on strong tradition and historic roots, with focus on building for an even stronger future.  Chaska’s history reflects influence of the Native America culture, the first people who lived here are believed to be the Mound Builders, whose ancient communities are marked by the mounds in City Square.  The name “Chaska” is derived from a Dakota word often given to the first born male child.
